How to Organize those Tacky Cords on Your Desk!!

I recently transformed a small 7 x 8 closet into my home office. It’s equipped with everything I need from my desk to my files to a decorative light fixture. Of course, it has to be divinely decorated!! One thing that was not divine was those tacky cords on my desk. I basically had two options… Pull the cords towards the middle of the desk when they are not plugged into anything or take the risk of allowing them to fall behind the desk. Since my desk is against the wall, I would have to crawl under the desk to awkwardly try to pull them up and ask someone to grab them from the front. I did not like the look of those cords on my desk. Not Divine.

You can imagine how excited I was to be asked by Adhesive Cable Clips to review their clips. I couldn’t wait to test the product for them and report my findings. Being able to receive the product for free was a win/win for me. When I received the package, I was pleasantly surprised to see it contained a total of 6 channel clips. Three were single clips and three were double clips. I loved the double clip option for managing multiple cords using one clip. As a person with multiple devices, having different options is great. I decided to use three clips in my office and use the remaining three clips on the nightstand in my bedroom for my cell phones and iPad.

Initially, I was a little nervous that the clips would not stay in place. However, the strong 3M adhesive assures it will stay in place. I am very satisfied with this product and give it two thumbs up.

7 Things to do Tonight for a Successful Tomorrow

It doesn’t matter if you are a student, professional, or stay at home mom, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. Often, when we wake up in the morning, we may feel overwhelmed with all of the items we have on our agenda. These 7 suggestions will help eliminate some of the stress we feel when our alarm goes off in the morning.

1) Get your clothes ready the night before. Take a few minutes out of your evening to decide exactly what you are going to wear for the next day. Determine if you need to iron anything, find that special accessory, or even try on something you may not have worn for a while. By getting your clothes (under, outer, and shoes) ready the night before, you will not have to spend useful time in the morning looking for an article of clothing that you may have misplaced, put in the cleaners, or simply not available.

2) Pack your work or lunch bag. If you have a work or school bag, pack it with all of the items needed for the next day. Don’t wait until you are running out of the house to sign a permission slip for a field trip or to put an important document you may need in your work bag. By having your bag packed the night before, that is one less thing that you have to worry about doing in the morning or potentially forgetting. It’s also great to have a routine of just picking up your bag (which will be in the designated area) in the morning before walking out of the door. If you pack a lunch for yourself or your child, you may pack the non perishable items in the lunch bag and sit it on the counter. The refrigerated items can also be assembled together in the refrigerator and ready to be tossed in the lunch bag in the morning.

3) Determine the top three things you would like to accomplish tomorrow. Of course, we all have a list of 99 items we need to do. Simply determine the top 3 things the night before. In the morning, you can tackle those items first. Once completed, you will have less stress and can adequately complete other items on your to-do list if needed.

4) Relax your mind before going to bed. If you can, don’t just jump in the bed after a long day of work. Try to schedule a little down time to unwind. Drinking a glass of hot tea or warm milk, relaxing in a bathtub, and reading a few pages out of your favorite novel is an excellent way to relax before going to bed.

5) Set your alarm clock for the time you need to get up. Don’t allow for “snoozing” time. We all have been guilty of setting our alarm for a certain time, but deep down we know we are going to hit “snooze” until the last minute. By doing so, this only interrupts our full potential sleeping time. Ultimately, it does us more harm than good.

6) Cover up the light on your cable box, clock, or cell phone. At night, we may wake up several times and look at the time. When we look at the time, we are mentally calculating how much time we have left to sleep. We are wasting time and energy by doing so. If we know we will not be able to see the clock when we wake up in the middle of the night, we will just keep our head down and go back to sleep sooner. We will not waste time trying to calculate the time in our heads, causing us to stress out while we are supposed to be sleeping.

7) Develop a Schedule. Developing and sticking to a morning routine is great for time management. After you’ve implemented and mastered your morning routine, you should have less surprises in the morning. Perhaps, you may even become a happy morning person.

I absolutely love my fitness life planner. I use it to record my fitness, nutrition, monitor my steps and calories lost, and meal plan. If I achieve my daily goal, I award myself with a happy sticker for the day!!!

I’m going to use a separate notebook for my budget and finances… This is still a work in progress.

I absolutely love the Erin Condren Teacher Planner. I completely customized it to use for my small business. I can completely plan and outline my social media, appointments, customer contacts, etc… I also keep many of my important business documents in the planner.

Since I keep my Teacher Planner in my home office, I carry a designated Erin Condren Deluxe notebook with me when I’m at appointments or meetings. I love being able to customize the cover.

“Tidy Tip Tuesday” Stress Free Purging…

With our busy schedules, no one has time to purge their closets. Adapt this stress free option for purging. Place an empty box in a designated area in your home. If you have room in your closet or bedroom that is ideal, but if it has to be someplace separate that’s completely fine. Remember, this is “stress free.” Don’t concentrate on filling up the box or scheduling a pick up. As you gather your clothes for the day, look through your closet, do weekly laundry, etc.. and come across items you no longer wear, doesn’t fit, or is damaged, simply toss them in the donation box. Don’t worry about designating a time to purge your closet or worry about how long it will take to fill. After several days or weeks, you will notice your donation box has magically filled up. When the box is full, simply close it and make it available for pickup or drop it off at your local donation site. The stress free donation box can also be used for home appliances, toys, and other wanted items…

Your Makeup and Jewelry Should Have a Divine Home

The era of musical jewelry boxes are over. I loved my musical jewelry box as a young girl. Later, I owed a tall stand up wooden jewelry box. It spoke elegance to me and I loved it as well. In a never ending attempt to declutter my home and upgrade, I purchased a modern clear acrylic jewelry organizer to save room. I must admit, I was a little nervous at first about purchasing the acrylic jewelry organizer. I didn’t know if my jewelry would fit and I was concerned about laying my necklaces down. To my surprise, its been several months and I am absolutely in love with it. 10 Closet Organization Tips

1) Store cloths with “sentimental” value in another location. Keep your autographed jersey or shirt from your first date separate from your everyday cloths.
2) If you haven’t worn it in a year, remove it from your closet. Conduct a closet rehab twice a year.
3) Use the same style hangers for a uniform look. “NO WIRE HANGERS!!!” Wood or velvet hangers are an excellent choice.
4) If it doesn’t fit perfectly, remove it from your daily closet. You are less likely to wear an item that doesn’t fit properly.
5) Iron cloths before putting them away. When deciding what to wear the next day, having to iron cloths can make your choice for you.
6) Keep like items together. Long sleeve button down shirts, polo style shirts, blazers, work pants, etc… It’s easier to put items away when they have a home.
7) Remove out of season clothes from your closet. Winter sweaters and tweed suits should be removed for spring and summer.
8) Keep a donation box handy or in a near room. Occasionally toss items in the box as you find items to donate. When the box is full, donate it. No stress on timing.
9) Sort by color.
10) Accessories such as shoes, scarfs, and belts should be organized in their own section.
